GENERAL BREEDING PROVISIONS OF SKD E.V.
The breeding and entry regulations of the SKD e.V. are the guideline for all members and are largely subject to the FCI Standard for the Shetland Sheepdog and the AKC Standard for the colourheaded white Shetland Sheepdog.
This breeding order (ZO) takes precedence over the ZO of the umbrella association to which we are attached. In addition, the ZO of the umbrella association applies.
An SKD e.V. breeder may not breed in another club. (Other kennel names with the same dog)
The breeder is obligated by the SKD e.V. commissioned persons to inspect the kennel
Any kind of dog trade is rejected. Home rearing is welcomed. In the kennel living Shelties are not admitted for breeding
All dogs that are allowed to breed must be chipped, vaccinated and have a pedigree, as well as kept according to the Animal Protection Act.
New breeders should have at least two breeder seminars within 2 years.
Before a dog is used for breeding for the first time, it must be written by a breed warden suitable for breeding. This can also be done at an exhibition. The breeding permission must be noted in the pedigree. Both parents must be purebred and have to present a valid pedigree until at least the 3rd generation or submit a certified genotype (by a laboratory).
It may only be bred with healthy and stable dogs.
Breeding animals must be examined for MDR, CEA, Kat. Dogs suffering from severe CEA or PRA must not be bred. Dogs that are affected (- / -) or carriers (+/-) of the genes MDR, CEA or PRA may only be mated with genetically free breeding dogs. This also applies to all stud dogs outside the club.
Male and female dogs can be examined for hip dysplasia (HD). The HD examination may only be performed after the age of 12 months, preferably 15 months.
May be mated:
* 1 HD B should only be mated if the 2nd and 3rd generation are not burdened with hip dysplasia.
With medium (HD D) and severe hip dysplasia may not be bred. This also applies to all stud dogs outside the club.
The evaluation of hip dysplasia can be obtained from our evaluation office. Philippi Jägersburg be submitted. For this, an evaluation form must be requested from the office of SKD e.V. After receipt of money at the treasurer, the evaluation sheet is handed out.
The evaluation may also be carried out by veterinarians with digital X-ray machines, which are trained in HD evaluations.
All breeding dogs must be examined by a veterinarian for distichiasis and patellar dislocation prior to breeding. Minimum age for examination is 12 months. Examination sheets are available from SKD e.V.
That in a serious dog breeding current health checks are made before the cover act, of course, goes without saying. Ask the breeder, which checks he currently makes ...!
Ask about the degree of relatedness of the breeding animals and the diseases that have occurred in the immediate environment.
Be critical and keep in mind that only a reputable breeder deserves your trust.
The use of follicle-stimulating or luteinizing hormones (FSH or LH) for the purpose of increasing throwing power is not permitted. This also applies to hormones or medicines with similar effects.
Insemination with fresh or frozen semen requires the approval of the studbook office.
There must be no mating between two Merlehunden. This applies to both zobelmerle, bluemerle, and biblue. It may not be bred with a dog from such a mating.
Every mating must be registered and approved early with the 1st chairman of the SKD e.V.
Breeding animals born after the 1st of March 1998 are to be marked by chip.
Before the dogs are drafted for breeding, they must be shown at least twice at an exhibition. Special regulations after consultation with the board.
No inbreeding mates will be tolerated.
Dogs are allowed to breed from the 12th month on, bitches from the 16th month. Bitches may be occupied at the earliest from the 18th month and must be suspended once after each litter.
If the bitch has been occupied, this must be reported immediately to the 1st Chairman.
Breeding females may be covered up to the age of 7 years. The breeding age for males is unlimited.
are imposed at:
a) Teeth and tooth defects
b) Testicular defects
c) breed-excluding errors according to the breed standard.
d) bitches after two different males in two consecutive fol

f) If false or untrue information is given on cover and throwing slips, manipulated X-ray images and incomplete information on the number of puppies.
g) Bitches that have given birth to two litters by caesarean section are excluded from further breeding use.
Similarly, dubious sales methods, a non-species-appropriate husbandry (kennel husbandry) of the breeding dogs, a killing of puppies for no medical reason are punished by warning, temporary or total breeding ban.
The fees are payable immediately after the completed cover act. A regulation of the fees is not available. In a bitch that has remained empty, another cover act is available again. For self-debt, however, not. The bitch owner is the registration form completely filled out and handed over with all documents.
Stud dog owners have to convince themselves before the evidence of a foreign bitch, that this is written fit for breeding. The bitch owner must be organized as a breeder in a club.
Only within a strong, democratic community will it be ensured that all requirements for the litters are met, that the litter checks and sightings are carried out by breeders who are properly trained and that the litters will continue to be accompanied for a long time.
Litters, which are simply "sometimes so" arise, which have no backing by a binding association, harm the breed and ultimately use only the budget of the owner of the breeding bitch.
Nobody controls the litters there, litter picking is often done by the breed dog owner himself, health checks for both mating partners are not available - that is propagation and no breeding.
Single-handedness is counterproductive, such litters do not serve the race and are not sustainable.
A litter must be reported within 48 hours to the board with indication of the parent animals, number of puppies and sex, as well as stillbirths and malformations.
Wolf claws should be entered in the flying license.
The litter may be taken by a recognized breed warden or by the veterinarian. The mother bitch must be present at the litter picking. All identified deficiencies must be entered in the Wurfmeldeschein.
The breed warden or veterinarian must complete a health certificate for each puppy, which must be given to the puppy buyer.
Puppies must not be released before the age of 8 weeks. The puppies must be vaccinated 4 times at this time, marked with a micro-chip and be 4x wormed. Health is required. An examination of the puppies on CEA is recommended.
In addition to the DOK, some other selected veterinarians with additional ophthalmology training are recognized for puppy eye examinations. The list of examiners please ask the board.
The pedigrees are to be submitted to the Stud Book Office: Sheltie Klub Germany, Michael Werne, r Friedhofstr.11, 66894 Bechhofen, together with the dog license and stud dog certificate. These papers will be sent to you upon receipt of payment, this may take up to 14 days.
No puppies may be knowingly sold for trial purposes or to dog dealers.
The board is free (even - or a specific person) to check the dog's attitude over and over again to make sure that the Animal Welfare Act is complied with. It is about the welfare of the animals. The actual costs incurred by the approach (tank receipt) has to be borne by the breeder. The costs may not exceed 50, - Euro.
Three proposals will be submitted. The name, which has not yet been awarded, is protected by SKD e.V., as well as by the umbrella organization.
The kennel name is requested directly from the SKD e.V. The first litter of a kennel begins with the letter A. Each additional litter must fall in the order of the alphabet. Or it is optionally entered after the chip number, whereby the names of the puppies are free to choose
It is highly recommended that each breeder keeps a kennel book in which all processes in the breed are entered. et al Purchases and sales of dogs, puppies, stud dog achievements, breeding animals and your litters, etc. We are here to help you. Please ask.
